Reflection Time

[ri-flek-shuhn] noun
1. the act of reflecting or the state of being reflected.
2. a fixing of the thoughts on something; careful consideration.

At the end of an activity, or day, or week, we reflect. Sometime we do this by talking to a partner, or a group.
Other times we use these reflection strips.

We look at positives, negatives, what we’ve learnt, what helps us learn, what we find useful, what strategies we used, things we could teach others and many more aspects of learning. We all have a turn to share, and we listen to each other respectfully.

These are some of the reflection strips we use. Can you complete the sentences to reflect on your day?
A strategy I used today was…
Something new for me today was…
I am proud of…

Do you think it is important to reflect? Why/why not?

How can reflecting help us in our life and in learning?

  1. Hi 4/5 P,
Your blog looks fantastic. It’s only Term 1 and look at what you have covered so far this year! Good job! Reflection time is really important. Do you remember when you were younger when you thought reflection time was just holding up a piece of work you did that day? It’s so important to reflect on what you learnt and why you need to learn it. We think your cards are fantastic. Enjoy future reflection times. From, Miss Varker and 3V
